Dublin Bedroom & Study
Dublin Bedroom & Study, Ireland
One room in a period house in Dublin, designed to work as both a bedroom and a study without ever feeling like either is squeezed in. Shown here in design visualisations.
The challenge was to fit a proper place to sleep, a proper place to work and generous storage into a single room, and still keep it restful. The answer was to treat the walls as joinery: floor-to-ceiling wardrobes wrap the bed, forming a snug alcove with its own reading lights, so storage and headboard become one calm piece rather than a row of furniture.
Opposite, beside the original fireplace, a built-in desk and open shelving give the study side of the room its own identity, lit by a brass lamp and the window. Everything is painted in one deep green, from walls to joinery, so the room reads as a single envelope; the woven door panels, the rust velvet headboard and warm brass add texture and keep it from feeling heavy. By day it is a focused place to work, and by evening the wall lights and chandelier turn it back into a bedroom.
